August 2004:

The community of Glenbrook was recognized in 2001 by the Nevada Department of Forestry as a High-Hazardous fire zone. Therefore,
the Glenbrook Project, a non-profit organization, received a grant
administered by the Nevada Fire Safe Council to begin working on
building a 300 foot defensible space perimeter around the community,

clearing brush and other fire fuels as well as, educating the
community about fire prevention and preparedness.

The the first live fire evacuation exercise in the Lake Tahoe basin took place at Glenbrook to determine safety and security of residents and test the evacuation plan with all emergency agencies. All emergency agencies worked as a unified command to confirm the plan logistics and develop better solutions for fire management and evacuation of residents.

May 2005:

JB landscaping is in process of completing the NDF grant for the Glenbrook Fuel Break.  Remaining funding will be sued to complete the fuel break on the back road to the

This site was the pilot project for large tree removal.  It was the highest threat area in the Glenbok Estates.

Gillimonte property. slash and derby removed from t he project site is being treated by tub grinding and chips distributed throughout the community.
