April 4: The Kings Canyon Chapter of the Nevada Fire Safe Council will be meeting at 6 p.m. at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 12. The group will be finalizing plans for the Kings Canyon Fuels Reduction Project as well as discussing a tree planting project.

April 22-23: The Kings Canyon Chapter of the Nevada Fire Safe Council will be hosting a fuels reduction weekend in their community. Dumpsters will be located at 3737 Kings Canyon Rd. Residents may dispose of yard materials at this location from 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. on Sunday. There will be a second dumpster in the cul-de-sac at the end of Kings Canyon Rd. The dumping times are on Saturday from 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. on Saturday. Residents of the Kings Canyon neighborhood can dispose of dead branches, trees and shrubs only. There will be no illegal dumping. Residents who utilize this free service will be encouraged to join the Kings Canyon Chapter. The goal of this event is to encourage and enable residents to create defensible space on their properties.

Residents may dispose of yard materials at this location from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. on Saturday. There will be a second dumpster in the cul-de-sac at the end of Kings Canyon Rd. The dumping times are on Saturday from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. through 3 p.m. on Sunday. Residents of the Kings Canyon neighborhood can dispose of dead branches, trees and shrubs only. There will be no illegal dumping. Kings Canyon Tree Planting Project

Currently there are Jeffrey Pine seedlings available for residents affected by the Waterfall Fire. These seedlings will be distributed on April 22. So far about 165 trees are spoken for. If you would like to plant Jeffrey Pine seedlings on your property there are two conditions. First you must agree to water the seedlings 1 gallon of water per week throughout the summer. Second, the seedling can not be planted within 30 feet of your house. .
